How the chamber works

A hyperbaric oxygen session takes place inside a sealed chamber, where the pressure is gently raised above normal while you relax. Ours is a hardshell, seated model: a padded reclining armchair inside a rigid chamber with a full-height door.

Hardshell and soft-shell, compared

If you've tried an inflatable chamber elsewhere, here's how ours compares.

What to expect

Your first session, from arrival to stepping back out.

  1. 1

    Arrive

Complete a short health questionnaire with the team.

  2. 2

    Settle in

Take your seat in the chamber and get comfortable.

  3. 3

    Pressurise

It feels a little like descending in a plane, so your ears may need clearing. Swallow or yawn.

  4. 4

    Relax

Read or listen. The chamber is gently returned to normal pressure before you step out.

A calm, quiet hour that many people make part of their recovery routine

Hyperbaric oxygen sessions at Nü are a wellness service, not a medical treatment.

Before you book

Hyperbaric oxygen sessions are not suitable for everyone, and a health questionnaire is completed before your first session.

If you are pregnant, have ear or sinus problems, a cold or congestion, recent ear or chest surgery, certain heart or lung conditions, or feel uncomfortable in enclosed spaces, you may be advised not to use the chamber. Please check with your GP first.

You can ask to stop the session at any time.

Frequently asked questions

A hardshell chamber has a rigid shell and is built for higher pressures. You sit in a reclining armchair behind a solid door, rather than lying in a narrow inflatable tube. See the comparison above.
